My boyfriend and I finally visited The Mattress Factory last week (it was my first time visiting). My boyfriend is very artistic; however, I am not as cultured. I felt like some of the artwork was too strange for me, and I even got a little claustrophobic on floor 2 when it was completely in the dark, but I still really enjoyed the experience. I especially enjoyed the exhibits in the building on the corner down the street from the main building. The amount of detail in the Julie Schenkelberg piece was astounding to me. I also enjoyed the walk through the cute little neighborhood. We made a day date out of it by first eating lunch at Nicky's Thai Kitchen and then visiting The Mattress Factory. It's location near the North Shore makes it perfect for combining with lunch/dinner options or with other activities for just a day of appreciating what Pittsburgh has to offer.
