  • I had hip resurfacing surgery at Euclid Hospital in January, 2013. I stayed in the hospital 3 nights after my surgery. They had consistent problems providing ice packs for my hip (no availability on about 10 - 12 occasions over the first 2 days) and they claimed that they were "really busy" and didn't have enough ice packs. The nursing staff was average, at best, and seemed very reluctant/unable to help advise me on the best plan to control my pain. Lots of shift changes and people did not consistently identify who they were and what their role was (I would often get first names only, and, based on the color of the uniform they were wearing, I could assume they were not all nurses but a variety of related staff). I had a lot of nausea and dizziness the first night after the surgery and vomited several times. I would have vomited on myself if my wife had not been there to assist me, since if usually took 10 - 15 minutes for the nurses/staff to respond to the "call button". The food was pretty basic and bland, and not nearly as good as the dorm food where my children go to college. My surgeon, Dr. Peter Brooks, is by all accounts excellent. Overall, for a "world class" hospital system like the Cleveland Clinic, the Euclid Hospital leaves a lot to be desired.
