| - Ugh...I don't understand why this place is set up the way it is. It is almost as if it is specifically designed to frustrate their customers. The owner is sitting back laughing at the customers that actually come back after the first time.
The restaurant is set up cafeteria style. You start by grabbing a tray, napkins, silverware. The next stop is the drink station.....yes, the drink station. If you are opting for water, grab a couple of cups. Coming back to this drink station for a refill is a HUGE task. You have to wait in line again with the customers who have not ordered yet and are getting their drinks...my daughter waited in line for 10 minutes for a refill of water while her food got cold. Oh, and this clever establishment serves spicy BBQ sauce, so relief from a refill isn't gonna happen. Oh, and the best part are the angry and frustrated customers seeking refills. They don't want to wait in line for a refill, so they angrily shove and push their way through the line and force themselves up to the drink station.
After filling up the drink, you are shot down a line cafeteria style, with a cashier at the end. Once you finish paying you are faced with balancing your tray while seeking out a table. If you have read this review and have decided to take my advice on doubling down on drinks, be mindful that you are now faced with the challenge of balancing all of your drinks on your tray, while trying find a table. You will have to maneuver yourself through the condiment station, coffee station, and sauce station. It is congested and full of other customers trying to balance and hurdle themselves around. It is quite comical to watch. Why would a restaurant set themselves up this way? For their own entertainment? Is the owner trying to cut costs on soda by over complicating the system? I would have never guessed that cutting costs on soda would be necessary when charging $5.99 for a sweet potato or $9.99 for 3 sliders. Joe's "Real" BBQ is making a "Real" profit.
Okay, the food....meh. The cornbread is dry. The meat is a 6 out of a 10. The bread is a 4 out of a 10. The slider buns had probably been sitting out for 4 hours, they had started to harden around the edges. The BBQ sauce wasn't anything special. Honestly, there wasn't really much flavor.
Bottom line, the food isn't worth the frustration of the restaurant set up. Do people really comeback for the torture and meh quality food?
