| - If you're looking for a volunteer event for a small or large group and want to be involved in the community, Feed My Starving Children is an excellent introduction to expose young adults to an experience in which they truly get to pack meals for children globally.
The nonprofit organization does a great job of explaining, organizing and walking everyone through the process.
When you arrive you simply sign in, sit down and receive a short overview of the process and what you're going to be doing over the next hour (a little more). They need volunteers in multiple different areas to assist to refilling items, boxing, packaging, warehouse or even admin stuff so no matter what you can find a role that best suits you.
All of the activity is done throughout the day at set time's so when you sign up, the entire group start/end at the same time (no overlap which is nice).
Our team at one station manage to package 35 boxes (each box contains 36 Manny packs, which we packed individually as a team). Do the math, and in just over an hour, we managed to get just over 1260 packages of food done. Staff members with blue hair nets help along the way so pay close attention.
When you're done you get a debrief of how much you did, the importance of the package along with the impact that it has on the children.
Lots of high school students attend so look towards them as some of your mentors for the first timers but it's a great experience and one that we also share with our children.
