  • Established in 2004, the Sewing Studio offers classes, private lessons, day-camps, group-parties, and so on. I couldn't be happier with my experiences here. The store is bright and clean, with great employees and a refreshingly high amount of attention paid to recycling and to energy-conserving measures. The courses offered do tend to cost a few hundred dollars each, but a) the instructors are great; b) taking any one of them gives you permanent access to the free studio-time twice a week during which you can use the machines for whatever you want; c) because the Sewing Studio is technically an educational institution, they can offer you some fantastic discounts on equipment if you're interested in purchasing it for yourself; and d) spending $300 learning how to use sewing-patterns and sewing-machines is one heck of a lot cheaper in the long-run than buying clothes new, not to mention more creative and often more fun. If you're into arts-and-crafts and have never had the opportunity to learn to sew, then this is an ideal place to be taught.
