  • After dining at Citizen Public House, it's no surprise it's one of the top rated restaurants in Scottsdale! We chose the restaurant as the venue for our post-busy season office dinner and it did not disappoint. The event coordinator was very prompt with email communication and gave us the option to choose between a variety of set dinner menus. She also offered cocktail and wine menus to enhance our dining experience. We all had the famous Chopped Salad to start. I was a bit hesitant as I'm not a huge smoked salmon fan, but wow, this salad was absolutely delicious. Not only is it beautiful plated, all the ingredients perfectly marry together. I was disappointed the portion wasn't bigger for the set menu as I could have eaten this for my main course! For our entree course, guests had the option to choose between chicken with saffron rice, coffee cherry glazed short ribs with parsnip purée, and pan seared scallops. I chose the short rib dish and the flavor was phenomenal. It was paired with crunchy sautéed Swiss chard and I was shocked how much I enjoyed this simple vegetable. My only teeny tiny complaint was that the short rib was just a tad dry. The chicken and scallops dishes looked amazing as well, everyone was very happy with their selections! For dessert we all had the smores pie in a jar. While it was perfectly sweet and decadent, it tasted a bit more like gingerbread pie. No complaints from me, just an observation. What stood out above all was the service. We had a party of 11 and our glasses were never empty. Our server was very attentive and explained all dishes on the menu in great detail before we ordered. I also loved that when I asked the host where the bathroom was, he walked me all the way through the restaurant to the door. It was a nice touch that showed the waitstaff really cares about their guests and making their experience enjoyable. I would recommend Citizen Public House to Scottsdale residents and visitors alike. You're sure to have a memorable culinary experience!
