  • My wife and I were in the mood for a different dinning experience last night, and we decided to check out Pastis Delicatessen and Eurogrille in Southeast Mesa. What a great choice! First the food. We started with the Caprese Salad for a light appetizer, which was served with a dash of Balsamic vinegar that really made this simple dish just sing. The Pasta Di Diavolo was good, with a richness that really complimented the Italian sausage. The spices were deceptively mild while still having a kick. We have never had anything quite like it before. We also ordered the Chevapi that was quite tasty for a simple beef sausage. This dish was served with Lepinja bread that went perfectly with the great homemade hummus. These would make a great meal all by themselves! For dessert the White Passion (white chocolate and passion fruit mouse) was the big hit. The homemade Baklava was also a unique treat--really quite good. But we didn't actually go for just for the food. We went to check out the ambiance. With French folk music playing in the background, and a completely relaxed Euro atmosphere we felt like we could spend the whole night there if we wanted to. We felt transported to another place and culture. Cheapest trip to Europe we could have taken. It was wonderful!
