I had never been here before so it was a refreshing change. And since I was going on a date and the date ended quite awkwardly, it's a good thing I didn't bump into anyone I knew here (not to sound conceited...Toronto's just a small world and you bump into people you know at places you go to. Or well, I do. That's my world).
VIBE
The date was a few minutes late and I was a few minutes early. Thus, it was kind of weird that I was the only woman in the bar. The bartender let me take my time (lest I get stood up; no need to order a beer!).
The bartender even introduced himself: "Hi, I'm Tommy." Refreshing.
The bar is a good solid wood bar. Lots of tables for fours and groups. Many doo-dads on the wall.
NOTE: No Debit but they have an ATM Machine. Phew! That's because the date didn't have enough money to pay for the remainding portion of the bill and I have to cough up $5. Let's guess if I'm going on a second date! Um....
I DRANK/ATE
They have many craft beers on tap including Steamwhistle and Mill Street. Mill Street Organic was a nice way to wash down the stresses of the day and undertake new ones on the date.
I also had wings. They were quite good. Standard pub fare.
OBLIGATORY CATCHY REMARK
This pub was a nice change from all the gentrfiying/too-cool-for-school ones on Dundas West. It's not trying to be something it's not. And for that, I'd be back. Just not with the same guy.
