I had the pleasure of dining at Rao's while in LV on business. Rao's as a strong reputation to live up to and considering it is just about impossible to reserve a table at their NYC location I was looking forward to dining here.
I arrived for an early dinner with a colleague and we elected to dine on their patio (people watching is great at Caesars Palace) so we did not get to experience the NYC style restaurant inside. Right up front service was fantastic. Our server was very knowledgeable regarding the chef specials, their wine, and very patient and agreeable as we customized our entrees.
From start to finish the food was exceptional. Start off with fresh bread and their homemade butter while you attempt to pair down your dinner choices. I opted for the Caesar salad with fresh cheese and extra anchovies. My dining companion's caprese salad is a great choice as well.
I selected the linguine and clam sauce with white sauce. The clams were small Manila clams. The dish was spiced with, noticeable, garlic, white wine, & red pepper. After devouring my dinner I finished off the wonderful sauce with their bread. Absolutely exceptional!
My dining companion had the Bolognese with penne pasta she reported bliss as well.
Rao's is indeed pricey but well worth it if you care to experience a wonderful traditional Italian fare.
