Note: Unable to check-in here since it shows I'm 10 miles away??
First time a couple months ago..I had dining credits so I decided to take my mum here for a meal. The most memorable was the curry tri-tip.. mmm.
Recent experience... ECK!
This time I had two comped buffets that came with the room.
We went for brunch and found a bug in my noodle salad!! Although tiny.. a BUG with little wings and legs!
So we notified our server and he supposedly in turn notified the manager and got the chefs to throw the dish out.
About 10 minutes pass and the server came back to tell us that the dish had been thrown out. OK.
Now sitting there disgusted, with an appetite that had ran 1000 miles away and only 1/2 a dish into the buffet we waited expecting a manager to come apologize at the very least. Nope.
We ask to speak with the manager and the server responded with "You want to see the manager? Is there a problem? Was it that LITTLE bug? (making a tiny gesture with his thumb and forefinger)" -- YES THERE IS A PROBLEM! Just because I didn't technically pay for the brunch- because it was comped - doesn't mean that I don't want a "refund" for a meal I didn't eat! Thinking of the people who paid $25 for a brunch and get treated poorly. (They had no reason to believe my buffet was comped since it was charged to the room.. for all they know I'm paying for it)
So I politely although agitated said "Yes I would like to see your manager and yes because of that LITTLE bug". So seriously, am I only granted an apology from the manager if the bug were over an inch big or what is the rule??!!
Another 10 minutes pass and the server returns with the manager who totally ignores us and speaks to the server right in-front of our table "Where's the bug? In the trash? Did you see the bug? so there was a bug? It was a TINY bug? What dish was it on? Are you sure so-and-so saw it?"
WOW!
1- I thought he showed the manager about 20 minutes ago when he took my napkin in which was a noodle piece where the bug had rested.
2- I said I wanted to speak to the manager and by her actions she had no intention of speaking to me!
I interrupt their little banter of whether we were telling the truth or trying to scam them out of $25 worth of bacon and eggs. She doesn't even ask me what I wanted to speak with her about and reaches for the receipt on our table. She then says "I don't know what I can do. It's been one hour since you started your meal" (Yeah I spent 40 minutes waiting for your slow ass!!). But also said reluctantly that "ok I will issue you a refund for one of your meals." ONE.
Although we were both only half dish into our buffet and had both lost our appetites now not only due to the little pesky bug that I had to unfortunately notice and not blindly ingest as the manager would have rathered. She would like to issue a refund of ONE meal because apparently my companion- who in his hunger finished his noodles before I saw the bug in mine - would have an appetite to continue with his meal.
I pointed out that we had both lost our appetites and hardly hate 1/2 a plate of anything and she blankly said no, she'll only refund one and walked away to process it. She came back and placed the receipt back on our table with a "It has been refunded back to your room", turned and walked off.
In examining the receipt.... she had refunded the full amount! WTF.....
Whatever... so we stood up, walked out and got her name at the cashier. Dree.
Honestly, it's not a bad buffet. They serve snow crab legs for brunch/lunch and king crab legs with multiple meats for dinner. Just pray that you won't have to deal with their nonexistent customer service!!
Verdict:
- Only for dinner.. their gourmet dinner also comes with 1/2 a lobster tail
- Bringing my magnifying spectacles (seriously... it will never be a comfortable meal here ever again)
