This restaurant always sounded like it would be a great place to impress guests or a date. On my last night in Champaign, I finally decided to go in and give it a try. The room was dark and with an impressive modern feel. The music was not too loud and they had a tv screen with changing background art (like you would see on iTunes but a little better). The other tv had the Bulls game so my eyes often wandered away from my date and to this tv (sorry, sweetie). The server was prompt and provided the specials. I decided to go with the Tuna rolls (the standard which I compare these kinds of restaurants) and the chicken stir-fry. The tuna rolls had the largest diameter of meat that I have seen in C-U and it was of a good quality. My only complaint was the meagerness of the serving but they made up for it with a lot of meat for each roll and the neat stacked arrangement of the rolls. The stir fry I really enjoyed! All of their meat dishes seemed to accommodate those who want free-range and humanely treated livestock. For the price and the hype, I was somewhat satisfied. I still think Sushi Kame is the better place to go for Japanese food and sushi and it is not as crowded and loud. However, if you really want to impress out-of-town guests, you go to Kofusion and not Kame.
