  • I used to be a bigger Peet's fan. I think this was back in my days of living in CHI and when I was drinking frou-frou beverages regularly. My espresso tast-buds weren't as well defined. These days I'm more of an espresso / black coffee kind of gal & I like my coffee to taste a particular way. (Don't ask for descriptions, please.) I'm not a big fan of the espresso roast at Peet's. Granted, they make a mean frou-frou beverage, so if that's your fancy, by all means go to Peet's. As for their straight up java / espresso...meh. I can live without it. Today I went to Peet's in need of a fix and opted for a frou-frou beverage due to the $1 off coupon I had. (Thank you Yelp coupons!). I ordered the caramel macchiato with 1/2 the sweet stuff & oy, it was still too sweet. And maybe my tasty buds are wacky today, but I felt that the sweetness had almost a metallic essence to it. While it hooked my need for caffeine, I have once again decided, I'll be passing on Peet's.
