  • This isn't a bad place; it's generally clean and the staff is nice enough. But I prefer to have a more personable, cooperative approach to pet care, where I feel that my vet is a partner in my pet's care--not a merchant trying to get my $$. There were 2 reasons I left this practice: 1) this is a very corporate vet office, with almost an obsession about liability and 2) I constantly felt that they were looking for ways to charge me more. Concerning charges: I felt that they were always looking for ways to charge for extra items. For example, I was encouraged to have X-rays, blood work, etc. done for dog allergies (more than $600 to be told that I should give my dog Benadryl!). I also asked that we take care of all blood tests, vaccinations, etc at one time, both for efficiency and for cost management. (They charge $60 per office visit, plus treatment.) At each appointment, I verified that there were no additional tests needed. Still, they kept calling me back for different tests, instead of doing them all at once. (For example, they required two visits, one month apart, for her heartworm and kidney function tests). I felt that this was unnecessary and put my 13-year-old dog through additional, unmerited stress. One of my friends also went here and had the same experience. Corporate establishment: I've had three other vets over 35 years. This is the first vet that expressed extreme concern over liability, to the point that they wouldn't allow me to be in the same room for a simple blood draw. It made me wonder: What do they have to hide? Are they so bad at simple blood draws that they're afraid to do them in front of the owner? It's not a bad place. It's just not great. I was a revenue source for them, not a partner in pet care.
