  • Run, don't walk, to the Carolina Newsbeat shop in Concourse E at the Charlotte Douglas Airport. I literally had no plans to buy anything, and yet I stood in a line for the chance to take a picture with the amazing cashier, Valerie. Valerie is literally one of the most positive people I've ever met in retail. And I used to work retail...She sings to the customers, lifts up weary and grumpy travelers with compliments and leaves you with a "Have a blessed day, baby!" The young soldier behind me in line greeted her like an old friend: "Hey, Valerie, how're you doing?" "Here's one of my troops!" She exclaimed.
