  • I have no idea how this place has gotten such a bad rap. I always feel strange (or insanely lucky) when I'm giving a business 4-5 stars and all of the Yelp'ers preceding me have single-handedly experienced the worst shopping experience of their lives. I don't get it. You can see from my photo that I purchased an inferior 1/2" - 3/8" socket adapter from Harbor Freight. If you've ever been to Harbor Freight, you'll know that quality isn't exactly their middle name. Instead of buying nice, I was now forced to buy twice. Shame on me. While working on a vehicle project, you can see the stem of the adapter completely twisted right off. I stopped at this Ace Hardware location after work this evening. How in the heck anyone can say this location is inconvenient is beyond me. It's literally a half mile away from the 35th Ave. exit off the 101. It's in a convenient parking lot adjacent to Walgreen's and Auto Zone. The only way it would possibly be more convenient is if it were built in your backyard. Inconvenient location? LOL! So anywho... plenty and ample parking with nice, wide parking spaces. I brought my broken adapter with me. There was a gentleman who greeted me the second I walked in the door. I handed him my broken adapter and said - I need another one of these. I followed him to the aisle with all of the sockets. He produced a brand new, higher quality socket. I walked up the cash register, I paid and I walked out. From the moment I walked in the store, up until the moment I got back in my vehicle and turned the key in the ignition - I would estimate that approximately 3-4 minutes had elapsed. I don't quite see how they could have possibly made things any easier for me? Solid 4-star review as far as I'm concerned. We need these convenient hardware stores. We need these locations. We can't drive to a fricken Lowes or Home Depot and battle a 400-acre megastore with 62-aisles of junk run by pimple-faced teenage boys who don't know (or give a shit) where anything is in the store. Well, maybe you can - but I can't. I'm not saying there's not a time nor place for establishments like Lowes or Home Depot. If you're doing a major household renovation, you're right. You're probably gonna hit up stores like that before anything else and I don't blame you one bit. No, you're not going to find 38 different brands of nail guns and you're not going to find a lavish garden center complete with pallets and pallets and pallets of varying types of pea gravel and manure. Time is money. If you need to run in for a couple of hardware items, why not support the underdog? My time is valuable and this particular Ace Hardware location made things terribly easy for me this afternoon. For that, I appreciate them and their staff. Kudos gentlemen!
