  • Why do I keep going here? A lot of the stuff is overpriced, and the staff is overall lousy. The last time I was here, there were 2 checkouts open - one had a huge line and the other had...an employee talking to another employee. I stood there for almost 5 minutes so I know that their convo had nothing to do with work. I tried to make it apparent that i would like to give them money, but I guess that didn't make sense to them. I almost walked out (but two of my items were for a friend and I felt like a jerk not getting them). Anyway, Earth Fare is kinda like Trader Joe's or Whole Foods. A produce area that is typically smaller than your average grocery store's, but one thing I really like is that you can fill a bag with spinach. I have no clue why this makes me happy. I could go to the West Side Market and get a bag handed to me for $1. I could go to the grocery store and buy a bag premade. They also sell the premade packages, but i really like filling my bag myself. Half star for letting me grab handfuls of spinach. They also get points for having a huge vitamin selection. It is a little more expensive than Drug Mart (my true grocery love) or purchasing online, but it's massive. If you can find one of the two nice employees, they are knowledgeable and quite helpful. I like that their health and beauty section contains small areas broken up into health needs. I'm dealing with a rough patch of insomnia and was looking for some more natural cures. I happened upon a nice employee (perhaps my insomnia and sleep deprivation had me hallucinating, who knows?) who led me to two products. I purchased one (a powder you mix with water that has a lot of magnesium), and he was nice enough to let me know about some of the side effects of the magnesium (umm.... can make things go rather smoothly through you). I really appreciated any advice. And guess what? The lemon-berry flavored powder does help me sleep a little bit better. I've purchased from the meat and fish counters a few times - again, a little pricier but I will say that the stuff has always been amazing. I got some turkey burgers for a cookout and when you put our burgers next to my dad's, they looked so much better (he had these teeny flat little burger patties). And they were really good. However, some of the people at these counters make me want to leave. One individual made me feel like I was intruding on her time. And yet I still shop here. So either it's that sleep dep making me a little delusional, or they pump extra oxygen into their store or... well, it could be that it's close by, they sell good stuff, and honestly? It's near other stores. So I'll be at Ulta and remember that I need almond milk, spinach, and bread.
