  • I am normally not one to write reviews online, but I had to make a special exception this time. Cushy Life is a beautiful store on the surface, and the service is amazing at first glance (and even after a few more visits), but the truth is that their products are significantly overpriced, and you can definitely find the exact same pieces at different stores in the city for much less. I had purchased a number of furniture items from the store after I moved to a new house, and was easily convinced to do so by the seemingly great and personable service. However, after looking around at a few more stores, I found another furniture store that sold the exact same item I purchased for almost $400 less. When I brought this up to Cushy Life, my first attempt went unanswered for over a month, and the second attempt was met by the owner's response of, "well, that's just too bad and there's nothing we can do about it". By that point, I had already put down a significant deposit so I could no longer cancel my order without forfeiting the deposit. One of the items I purchased was also damaged (by the manufacturer) upon delivery. After bringing this up to the store owner, he was very understanding and explained that he would bring in a replacement piece from the manufacturer. However, this did not happen for another 3-4 months, even after multiple follow-up requests from me - it got to the point where I started to wonder if I was ever going to get the replacement and if I should issue a formal complaint to the BBB for unethical business dealings. Finally, after getting in touch with a sales person at the store (which in itself took considerable time as no one ever seems to answer the phone in the store), the replacement piece was delivered; however, it did not come packaged in the original packaging, and - after inspecting it thoroughly - I am almost 100% positive that it's a floor model version that they gave me instead, and not a new piece from the manufacturer (i.e. the replacement piece had scratches throughout). But I was honestly so fed up by this point that I couldn't even muster the energy to contact the owner for a response. Please don't make the same mistakes I did, as I thoroughly regret having purchased anything with my hard-earned money from Cushy Life. The store and products look beautiful but looks can be very decieving, especially in this case. Some of my friends had very similar experiences as well (e.g. ordering a product from them online, paying for the transaction, being told weeks later that the product wasn't available anymore, then trying to get a refund for the payment with difficulties). My advice is that if you like something at Cushy Life, try to find it elsewhere (even online, as many of the designer cushions they have from Dwell Studios, etc. can be purchased online and delivered to Canada) for a lower price, because you inevitably will find it for much less. Please save your money, time and frustrations!
