  • I wish I could give half stars because I'd truly rate Mert's as a 3.5 (or even 3.75) out of 5. But to be fair, I will round up to 4. I have been to Mert's four times in the past year and have been pleased with each visit. The service and ambiance is great. The art and music promotes an inviting warm home-style environment. I'm only giving this place 3.5 stars because of the food. It is tasty, but not the best southern cuisine I've had. I was raised on southern cooking and am aware of variations in seasoning and techniques for one location to another. However, although good, the food does not satisfy my appetite when I'm in the mood for "soul food" or southern cooking. I'm sure this varies from one person to the next. So, try it out yourself! :) Also, I've had the catfish and chicken here, but my favorite meat at Mert's is the ribs.
