  • This isn't my normal salon but they had really good reviews and I was in the area, so I decided to check them out about two weeks ago. I asked for a blowout and trim. I am mixed and have very curly hair when it's not straightened (it was straightened when I went in) and I told the lady doing my hair that. She shampooed and then started cutting it while it was wet. I thought she was just brushing it before I saw hair falling, but maybe I should've told her that but either way, I did tell her that I only wanted to trim about an inch or so off, but she ended up cutting off about three inches. Not only that but after she started blow drying it (without a round brush) and flat ironing it, it just looked like a frizzy mess. She was also cutting each layer as she straightened it, which made it worse and shorter. I've never had anyone ever do my hair like this or without a round brush for a blowout. The girl in the chair next to me was looking at my hair like it was a wreck... probably because it was... She got the bottom half of my hair "done" if you want to call it that, and I couldn't take it anymore so I told her to just stop cutting/straightening it and that I was done. I put my hair in a bun and went to the front desk and told them I was done and asked how much I owed. I explained the situation and they offered to have someone else fix it but honestly I just wanted to leave. She originally said they would only charge me $25 instead of full price and have someone fix it, but I was so upset it just wanted to go, so they didn't end up charging me. I went home and straightened it myself (they use the same Moroccan smoothing lotion that I do at home so I'm not sure why the lady was having such a hard time). After i straightened it, the unevenness really stood out and the layers were pretty much nonexistent. Overall just really disappointed and a waste of time, not to mention how long it'll take for my hair to grow back those 3+ inches and that I had to go somewhere else to get it fixed. If you try this place, be very clear on what you want and make sure the stylist can actually do it. I also think they may not have much experience with "ethnic" hair, which I'm only half black, but that's never been an issue for any other salon doing a blowout with my hair type.
