  • I had a really mediocre experience at MGM and will likely never return. From arrival to departure, we always encountered at least one hiccup. Parking: Hotel guests have to pay for parking, which is pointless and unfair in my opinion. Check-In: When our group finally arrived, all I could say was WOW.... What a line. I have never stood in a longer line in Vegas for hotel check-in. We waited for over 1 hour before we reached the front. They were fully staffed, though, so I'm sure they were trying their best, but perhaps MGM should consider ways to improve operational efficiency and output. I will award one of my stars for their excellent service to the guests waiting in line. They continuously and sincerely apologized and offered water to everyone in the queue. Once my boyfriend and I got to the front after that grueling wait, an employee (I believe her name was Ann) had told us our entire reservation had been cancelled (we had previously only wanted to cancel one room). We were freaking out until another employee helped us out by searching for the reservation with the last name and first name reversed - which worked! I didn't get his name, but thank you to him for being clever enough to try a different tactic which saved us from a complete nightmare (take notes, Ann). Rooms: The rooms need some serious upgrading (actually, the entire hotel could use some renovation). The design is old and there initially was a weird smell (moth balls? *shudder*) when we first got inside. Bathrooms were above average with great lighting, but that's about it. Our room was poorly lit and some lights also didn't work. We also had a beautiful view of the adjacent Motel 6 and Hooters (not). Check-Out: We struggled to use the check-out function on the TV. It lagged and lagged until it finally said that the system was unavailable. Why bother to have an easy check-out system if it's not going to be functional?! TL;DR: MGM Grand is not so Grand, unless you like second-rate rooms, paying for parking, and waiting in lines longer than those of Disneyland rides. Avoid.
