  • 3 night stay at this 24 year old hotel that could use a refresh. Located on the southern end of the Las Vegas strip there are lots of near-by properties/restaurants to visit. We didn't gamble so I cannot report on that experience. The Good: nice size gym that appears to be well-maintained. Lots of restaurants. Lots of entertainment options which we would have taken advantage of if we had more time (especially the Blue Man Group). Connected walk-way to the Mandalay Bay Hotel (and other restaurants) was great! The gentlemen that checked me in was pleasant and helpful plus allowed me an early check-in. Other employees that we encountered were also friendly. The interior Egyptian theme still works even if it's a bit dated. My daughter loved taking her pictures near the Egyptian statues. The Not-So-Good: - The Elevators seems unsafe and wobbly. If you want to feel like you are in Willy Wonka's elevator this is he hotel for you! The elevator goes up and down, but it also feels like the elevator is going back and forth (side to side). Multiple guests mentioned this and some mentioned that certain elevators were worse than usual. Unsafe? 1/5 Stars. - Pyramid Cafe: Food was expectantly expensive and he food was so-so. Brought out burnt toast, but server was glad to get new toast. Bacon ordered NOT crispy, but received mostly crispy bacon. Food and service was what you'd expect at a small time diner vs. a nice hotel. 2/5 Stars. - Maintenance: the hotel could use some updating and repairs. Elevators and bathrooms were needing cosmetic work. One of the two queen beds had a big dip in it and was very uncomfortable. Bed blankets was older. Pictures of the bathroom door and bathroom wallpaper are attached as part of this review. 2/5 Stars. - Rooms: Overall, the rooms were average. Not bad, just not good/great. Had to be moved due to terrible phone/internet reception in my first room. The second room wasn't much better. The first room was in an area that can only be described as a industrial area outside of the door into the room. A poor design choice and not very pleasing visually. If you got a cheap room rate to be in that area that might be fine. Pictures of my first room. 3/5 Stars. - Smoke Filled Casino: This is probably only an issue for the non-smokers, but the main casino areas are filled with smoke and I doubt the Luxor has the most recent air filtration system. This issue is not unique to the casinos anywhere on the strip, but still stinks for non-smokers. 1/5 Stars. Overall, if you can get a good room rate and location is good for you this will probably work for you. Didn't hate our stay here, but we didn't love it either. 2/5 Stars.
