  • This is why people don't trust mechanics... I work for a company that sometimes gets bad reviews and usually the customer is either just an angry person who writes bad reviews about everything or they just don't understand the reasons why things are done the way they are. So, with is mind, I try not to write negative reviews often. Unfortunately My Auto gets one. We brought our truck in for a few small issues and to get new shocks and struts. The small issues were taken care of and they found a belt that needed to be replaced, which we had been unaware of as it wasn't giving us any problems. We paid over $1600 for the repairs, the most expensive part of this being the shocks and struts. When we picked up our truck, the belt they had replaced was squealing like crazy and the suspension was still awful, so we took it back. The next day they called stating that "Oh..on Chevy trucks you need to calibrate the suspension 3 times. We only did it twice." ??? Sounded weird, but hey...we're not mechanics, so maybe this was true. They also said the squealing was because the cam that the belt was on was loose, but they didn't replace it because they hadn't quoted us to replace it. So, why didn't they call and quote it so we could've had them fix it when they replaced the belt? We paid them to tighten the cam and they supposedly recalibrated the suspension. Picked it up the next day and the suspension was still absolutely terrible. Took it back in again. They kept it for a couple days and stated "Everything's fine. It's just how trucks are. You're just not used to trucks." That kind of made sense as it was my first truck, so I picked it up and decided to just let it go at that. Over the next couple months it felt like our relatively new brakes were going out, so I had Tire Works check them out. Brakes were fine, but our suspension needed "a lot of work" and it was causing a massive shuddering while braking. I wasn't about to have Tire Works do something that involved, so I called My Auto and told them that our suspension was still bad. They said they'd done all they could and there was nothing else they could do. When we got new tires and wheels 2 weeks ago, Discount Tire also said we needed work on our suspension. We took our truck to Charlie's Car Repair on Charleston and Hinson last week. They said there is no way our struts or shocks were replaced recently and that they are several years old. Also, due to riding so long on bad struts, one of the axles now needed to be replaced. We paid (AGAIN) to have Charlie's replace them and our truck runs absolutely beautifully now. It makes me sick that we spent all that money on nothing and there's nothing we can do about it. There are a lot of other things my family of 6 could've done with that $1600.00.
