This is my parent's go to spot for dimsum in Phoenix, but we decided to try out the dinner here one day when I was home for the holidays.
We arrived around 6 pm on New Years Day expecting a short wait, but the restaurant was almost completely empty. It doesn't seem like dinner service here is that popular, even though there's always a wait for dimsum around lunch time.
We ordered 3 dishes to share family style:
Beef chow fun ($10.75) - always such a classic dish, and they do it well here. The beef was very tender and flavored just right.
Hot braised sliced fish ($12.25) - I was disappointed by this dish. We asked our server about this dish before ordering, and she said nothing about it being braised in a sweet and sour sauce (and neither did the description on the menu). I don't like sweet and sour dishes and definitely would not have ordered it had I known. Though I do highly recommend for people who like this type of flavor as the fish itself was fresh and comes coated generously with sauce.
Black bean sauce spare ribs ($10.50) - enjoyed this dish as well. The ribs were tender and came with plenty of bell peppers and onions.
There was a complimentary dessert at the end of the meal of sweet taro soup, which is one of my favorite Chinese dessert soups.
Overall, my parents and I liked Phoenix Palace for dinner and would come back again. Prices for cheap for the portions that we got; the restaurant definitely didn't skimp on the meat.
