  • Did you know that Uncle Tetsu has practically no presence in Japan? He is not popular to Japanese people and it's easy to see why. None of my Japanese friends understand why he is popular and many have never heard of this brand. His Matcha is low quality. Head over to Tsujiri if you want authentic matcha products. Uncle Tetsu is expanding overseas precisely because he is dying in Asia. Everything he does is more of a marketing gimmick than quality. His so called Matcha cheesecake has NO matcha taste. It's just green and looks cute with the logo. The madelines are the same. I taste butter and cake. Not matcha. Their latte are the worst. Starbucks is better. Tsujiri's has the strongest matcha taste. While I would get his cheesecake, I would NEVER recommend his matcha. It's just bad. To top it off, I don't think they can pass a health inspection...don't go here. It's cheaper than Tsujiri down the street for a reason: you get what you paid for.
