  • We love the original Monta Ramen and were excited to come here since the original location usually has 30-60 minute wait times. We were already repeat customers of the original Monta on Spring Mountain, so we ordered the usual Tonkatsu ramen bowls at this location. Overall the food was good and tasted the same as the original. The reason for 2 stars however came when my gf discovered a bug in her soup (after finishing all the ramen). It was a small black beetle - we're just really happy it wasn't a cockroach which would have been 100x worse. When we notified the server, she was more stressed out than she was concerned (probably about trying to think about how to handle the situation when there were already 4 bowls of eaten ramen on our table of 4). She took the bowl away and one of the cooks came out to apologize. She then said that the bug must have fallen into the bowl while it was on the counter waiting to be served - perhaps as a way to dodge the fact that it was probably in the soup pot and all 4 bowls of our ramen were most likely affected (and the whole restaurant's served ramen for that matter). Anyways, we didn't argue it and she ended up making the 1 bowl of ramen (but not all 4), and our appetizer free of charge. Not a great experience (and we didn't like the way the server handled the problem) but we'll probably be back every now and then and just hope this instance was a rare fluke. P.S. Other than the bug, the ramen honestly tasted fine (food is 5 stars). Tonkatsu is definitely our favorite since its the creamier soup and not as salty as the Shoyo version. They always cook their noodles perfectly, and the meat is super-fall-apart-tender and melts in your mouth.
