  • This review is based on a recent experience I had at Trader Joe's Charlotte after purchasing an item that made me sick...and yes, I meant to put five stars. Let me start by saying, I have had a love/like relationship with Trader Joe's for the past 10 years. I'm a regular shopper at TJs, but recently had been swayed by the many choices in grocery to occasionally shop elsewhere. Today, I can say the manager here made me a loyal shopper (at least most of the time!) for LIFE. Here's what happened. Last week I purchased a thing of salsa that made me very sick from Trader Joe's. It can happen at even the best establishments, but salsa is especially sensitive to spoiling and is often tied to food poisoning. So, I mean, it happens. But this was bad. And I was not thrilled about the way the first team members reacted because of how bad it was. I brought the salsa case back in and later that day received a call from the Team Captain/Manager, Vik. He could not have been more genuine and sincerely apologetic about the way things were handled. That's really all I was looking for after being knocked on my you-know-what for two days. Before getting off the phone I told him he had won back a customer for life. He asked me to still come in so we could meet in person if I could, or if that wasn't possible, he wanted to leave me something to say, 'We're sorry.' I just got back from the store and I am FLOORED with their level of sincerity and high level of customer service. Not only did I meet Vik, who was just as kind in person, but Vik had hand written me a long card on behalf of him and the team and inside was a gift card from the store. On top of that, as I waited to check out, another team member came up to me, handed me a bundle of flowers on behalf of the team. I am stunned. I have never experienced such an incredible display of customer service. TJs, thanks to Vik and the team at Charlotte Metropolitan, you just won a fan for LIFE! I'm telling everyone. THANK YOU!!!
