| - Noticed this bakery because we were having lunch close by. So while I was having lunch at Komex, I yelped Chef Zen. When I read that they have malasadas I decided that we would head there for dessert!
Upon stepping inside, I was disappointed with how the display cases looked. There were no malasadas to be found! There were just a few donuts and a few varieties of croissant rolls. The staff asked if we ordered malasadas ahead of time. Since I did not, we had to wait 15 minutes for them to make my order. A minimum of 3 malasadas need to be ordered in order for them to make it. I ordered 1 of each flavor.
While waiting, we decided to try their Mango filled croissant roll. Was not a fan. The croissant part tasted stale. ( 2 stars )
The Malasadas, on the other hand, were good. We shared them with some friends later that evening. Personally, I preferred the Boston Creme filled and the Guava filled Malasadas. Mango filled, Nutella filled, and the Plain are all worth trying.
I noticed that they also sell some Filipino food here as well as smoothies. Definitely, a bakery worth checking out.
Just make sure to call ahead if you are craving malasadas!! They are a bit expensive, but I would purchase them again if I knew that I was going to be in the neighborhood.
