We were contacted because of a raffle we entered at the Sedona Wine Festival this past September.
"Come in for a cruise voucher..." I asked what the additional costs or deposits are. Answer given: None except for taxes AT THE TIME OF RESERVATION of the trip. I stated that I am loyal to a specific cruise line. They listed a number of cruise lines that the voucher can be used through and that we just use the voucher when we book THROUGH THE CRUISE LINE OF OUR CHOICE.
We went to the RCI sales presentation (which was, no surprise, loaded with lies about their competitors). We got the voucher that required registration within 30 days. Registration includes a $150 non-refundable deposit and voucher use has massive blackout ranges (the entire summer and all holidays which amounts to 21 weeks of blackouts). And, "Reservations may not be booked directly with any cruise line.
The response when I called Highland Resorts about this failure to disclose crucial information was it is the vendor who set the rules. Regardless of that, Highland failed to truthfully answer questions in advance. The vendor's website, by the way, has absolutely no information available and the addresses are the same as some of the cruise line scams.
