| - I have mixed feelings about Mindfreak Live.
The first 10 minutes of the show are an unnecessary blitz of self-promoting material about his past accolades as a magician. It almost comes across as props for self-validation, and I actually found them to be highly annoying. This sort of self-promotion is good for those tiny screens in Vegas taxicabs, but not as part of the actual show. I was honestly about 2 minutes from getting up and walking out, as I was actually concerned the show was going to suck.
Dude, I'm in the show. In a seat. Stop promoting. I'm about to see you in like 10 minutes!
Then the pre-act of Maestro and Fifi began, and I was all smiles. The comedy routine was reminiscent of old school Jerry Lewis and Dean Martin slapstick, but with modern Vegas undertones. It was a great start.
When Criss finally came on, it was a bit slow. He seemed a bit tired and rugged, but I have to admit that my interest rose after the entrance of who he later introduces as Chloe Crawford, a gorgeous, engaging magician from Britain (I think). Chloe was simply..... perfection.
Then, Criss went on hyper-drive, and the acts just got crazy fun. As always, his levitation act is second to none, and I soon found myself standing on my feet with my family, cheering him on.
Final thoughts? Criss... you're very likeable, and I love the charity tone you have, as I am also a huge supporter of children-focused charities. Chloe is gorgeous, and I hope you have a great future together. Just please tone down that annoying first 10 minutes of self-promoting video.
Yes, I'd be open to seeing it again.
