  • I had to stop myself from giving New Gen five stars, because I know it's nothing close to perfect, yet I feel this strange affinity towards it. I'm so attached that no other sushi place satisfies me. It's weird, I know. Anyways, onto my review... There are a ton of sushi places along Bloor, yet New Gen is always packed with a line up out the door if it's around a mealtime. That's one drawback but they usually manage to get people in and out of there pretty quickly so you won't be waiting long. The menu is fairly large and inexpensive. I can usually never decide what to get so I end up getting a bento box for a little bit of everything. Most menu items come with free soup and salad (the dressing is to die for, I've asked them if I could buy some once and they kind of just looked at me like I was crazy) and at dinnertime they serve ice cream on the house. The service is super fast and efficient and I like that they don't make a big deal out of splitting bills or running debit/credit instead of cash. It's especially convenient if you're with a group of friends. I find the food delicious and very fresh, and there is also a delivery and take out option.
