The Rio Salado Sportsman's Club at the Usery Mountain Shooting AZG&F is open 7 days, 7a-5p. The club offers memberships ($100 annual) but non-members can shoot as well for a daily fee of $10 (LEO discount available). There are 8 'ranges' separated by tall berms offering high-powered rifle (out to 500 yards), pistol, clay targets, etc. They have restrooms and some vending machines.
I had heard horror stories about how the Range Safety Officers (RSO) power-trip and scream at shooters for little things but my experience was quite opposite; I found them professional and 100% concerned for everyone's safety. I didn't see any major safety violations but the few minor infractions (like approaching the gun bench during target check) were handled with a stern 'don't do that.' If you think about it, you have 100+ people handling guns in close proximity with experience ranging from 'where does the bullet go' to 'Navy Seal Sniper'- I'd prefer them to be strict. The rules are for safety; follow them. PERIOD.
The range is busy on the weekends and around holidays; expect a line to register and to wait for a bench. Overall, a nice shooting complex in the NE valley.
