Checked out Donut King for the first time this past Sunday. I was concerned about them running out based on other reviews, but shortly after 10am they still had plenty to choose from--at least 25 varieties. I had to ask what some of them were, like Montreal Pie, which is a donut topped with maple sauce and pecans--delicious! We got a half dozen of different flavors and the total was just over $9. Yes it is more expensive than Dunkin' but the donuts are large and the flavors are unique. All of the donuts we got were good, not mind-blowingly good, but good. They were better after a few seconds in a the microwave. The key lime pie donut was tasty but the filling was reminiscent of a lime life saver. The best one we got was the sour cream old fashioned. It was more like a cake donut, almost like a pound cake.
Ultimately I'm glad the Donut King exists and if I was nearby I would go get a donut but I doubt I'd make the drive to Huntersville just for this.
