  • My Xbox 360 RROD-ed, so I visited this Gamestop to pick up a refurbished 360 as a replacement, since I find no need to buy a brand new console within two years of a probable next-gen Xbox launch. Refurbished and used 360's here come with a 30-day warranty. On exactly Day 31, this console RROD-ed as well. Yay! I love throwing away $150 for no reason. I took it apart to repair myself, since I was familiar with the procedure, to find that this "refurbished" system had already been RROD-fixed in the past, but very incorrectly. No thermal paste was used between the CPU, GPU and their heatsinks...instead it was plain epoxy glue. There were also additional signs of hurriedness on Gamestop's part putting it back together, like chipped plastic, loose screws and hastily replaced padding for the RAM chips. I'm assuming its Gamestop doing the actual refurbishing since that's what they claimed as well as it saying so on the box...which incidentally is officially sanctioned by Microsoft. Aside from the occasional game launch exclusive, there is no other reason to ever return to this establishment.
