| - The most terrible realty I've ever had the displeasure of getting to know. The main lady is greedy, and wanted to charge us an equal sec deposit of $1200, an "admin fee" of $150, $40 for each applicant, AND there was a $250 cleaning deposit, along with a $250 pet deposit. That's excessive for that particular house, which wasn't that great. The bathrooms looks scummy and seriously needed an update, along with the fridge and the dark purple and yellow mismatching windows in the front.
There is also bad communication from this realty, cause my poor agent who only shows us the place kept telling us that they'd want a bigger deposit to hold it for a month (which is what the $600 earnest deposit is supposed to do). I kept telling her we were planning on putting down the full security deposit and pet deposit to hold it for that long because we are able to, and was astounded that wasn't enough for the main lady there. I found this home on a sunday night, and put in my application Monday night via email that the agent sent me (a pdf), because I don't have a printer at home and I was at work all day 8-5. I also deposited the app fees and admin fee during my lunch break on Monday. Thursday came around and I hadn't heard from them at all, so I talked to my agent. She said the main lady was on a vacation in Vegas and would be back later Thursday night. I called and spoke to other girls at the office during my lunch break on Thursday (and I also met some of them when I dropped off the money) so I don't understand why they couldn't have processed our applications (I mean, what else are they doing, really?). I received a call back while I was working and they said they were having trouble opening my pdf document I sent to my agent. Really? I don't believe it. It's Adobe for crying out loud. Then when I finally got ahold of the main lady Thursday night, who said she just got back from her "business" trip in Vegas, she was spewing out more excuses.
I told her to hold off on doing my backround check and credit check because I was pretty sure I was going to want a full refund and continue searching for other homes. I told her it was a shame we weren't being taken seriously, because 1) I have all the money to move in 2) we're great renters and 3) we all have a 700+ credit score. I told her it was a shame and I was starting to get an inkling of what kind of landlord this realty office would be. For that house, it wasn't worth it so we backed out. Now let's see if we even get our $250 back!
And by the way, our other roommate was able to hand in a paper application and she said his credit was fantastic. She also told him that if they didn't receive an app from us, he would be responsible for paying all the rent. Um, duh. But they knew I was at work all day Monday, I ran in the office in my scrubs and told them it was my lunch, but they don't care even though we submitted our apps on the same day. Last night (Thursday) he called and spoke to them and I guess she told him to be careful who he chooses as roommates. Yes, I am so irresponsible for wanting my application and money to be taken seriously.
On top of all that, our agent even admitted they were fishy, and said she thought the main lady was wanting our applications now now now, and didn't have the means to process them right away herself. She also said she got the feeling the main lady was trying to work around a Vegas trip.
