Wow.. I'm not sure if it was an off day or what. Decided to try this place as I had walked by earlier in the week and the stuff on the menu looked really good. Went in with a co-worker for lunch and it was kindof an odd place to walk into. Like some other reviewers had said.. Its just dead quiet in there. This doesn't particularly bother me unless I can actually hear others eating.. which I couldn't, but they could put on some music or turn up the TV in the back with the news or something.
I will also say that the service was pretty slow.. There was 1 server for lunch. She seemed nice enough, but again.. slow service. Not that I really minded as I wasn't in any rush. Just FYI.
Anyway.. I wouldn't take any stars away for that stuff. Unfortunately this place gets 1 star because of my meal. I ordered the brisket sandwich.. I actually had a tough time deciding because everything on the menu sounded really good. Took a while for the food to arrive and the second it did I knew something was wrong.. It just smelled awful. I'm not sure if it was some spice the put in it or if it was made in a burned pot or if it was the onion bun or what.. but it just smelled funky! Even with the odd smell I gave it a good try.. Tried to pick it up and the sandwich filling was just this mushy meaty substance.. I couldn't get a handle on the sandwich.. Ended up having to knife and fork it. I made it thru about 1/4 of it before I gave up as it was just unpleasant. I finished off the rest of the homemade potato chips which were pretty bland and that was it.
I am not really very picky.. even if there is something I don't really like I can usually power thru or find something I like about it. This was just inedible to me.
Didn't really get a chance to send it back as our server never came back until she brought the checks. I could have made a big fuss I suppose, but thats not really my style.
I will say that the other people there seemed to be enjoying their meals.. The guy I went in with said his Philly Cheesesteak was pretty good. So again.. maybe it was an off day for the brisket sandwich. Its been 2 hours and I'm still trying to get this awful taste out of my mouth..
Edit:
Ok.. 10 hours later.. and I can still smell and taste the awfulness. Seriously.. I should have said something when I was there because the more I think of it, the more I am realizing that this is quite possibly the worst thing I've ever been served. Sure there are things that I don't like from time to time.. but this was by far the most foul thing I've ever been given. I mean they HAD to have known something was up with this stuff.. and to serve it like that anyway just kinda makes me angry. I have been served black, burnt toast before.. just blatantly burnt.. that meal was better than this one. This one is going to haunt me for a long time. I'm sorry.. but I'm actually leaning towards this being the worst meal I've ever had. I've had meals that have given me food poisoning that tasted better than this.. And I'm not even joking about that.. I think I have had a lot of good meals that I will easily forget.. This, unfortunately is one of the bad ones I will never ever forget.
