  • My move to Reno, NV from Los Angeles, CA was difficult, only because of YBT Van Lines. The price I was quoted was reasonable, but the total amount I paid was more than $1000 above the price I was quoted and which I accepted. The person responsible for that quote, Ann, told me that I would be charged for eight feet on the moving van. My furnishings did take up more than eight feet of space. I actually took about 8 1/2 feet. Mathematically speaking 8 Feet Deep x 8 Feet Tall (height of the truck) x 10 Feet Wide (width of the truck) = 640 cubic feet (for around $1200), but 8 1/2 Feet Deep x 8 Feet Tall x 10 Feet Wide = 680 Cubic Feet (for about $2300). That means that the extra 40 cubic feet cost about as much as the initial 640 cubic feet. The supervisor of the crew said I was quoted a price for 24 boxes along with my furniture, but I had 41 boxes. This is the inconsistency I found between the quote from Ann for 640 cubic feet and the box count by the supervisor of the crew loading the van. There's no guideline for the size of the boxes or anything. I feel cheated...deceived...hoodwinked...totally screwed. YBT Van Lines held my furnishings in Las Vegas, NV for 31 days before I finally received my furnishings at my new apartment in Reno, NV, so for more than four weeks, I was forced to either sleep on the floor or rent a hotel. I never filed a claim with the company because I felt that it was probably their normal operating procedure and I would not even have my claim reviewed. While my things arrived in relatively good shape, this move was a nightmare.
