  • I love the Arts District. It's sort of spread out over a whole bunch of streets so you need your walking shoes. There's a map on their website, www.18b.org. We saw a lot of people taking photos with the murals. I think the afternoon sun puts good exposure for the south facing murals. There are quite a lot of them on the businesses on Main Street, some on Commerce, a lot around Art Square and some on Casino Center. Actually, there are murals everywhere if you just get out of your car and walk. The alley ways are loaded with them. I was cutting through an alley from Rocking Noodles to get back to my car and at first I couldn't figure out why all these people were just standing around, but when they started setting up the bounce lights and equipment, I figured it out. Cool art on the walls. And, of course, you shouldn't skip Snowball, the cat head statue, on First and Coolidge. He's worth a selfie. The Arts District is safe to go to at night, too. We went bar hoping last February on Fat Tuesday. It was a lot of fun. We hit Velveteen Rabbit, Hop Nuts, ReBAR, Artiface, Mingos, and Cornish Pasties. I hear there are a couple of new restaurants opening up really soon. There are already a number of good places to eat but more will be even better.
