When we first moved to the neighbourhood, Alfredo's was a surprisingly convenient little grocer. They didn't have everything, but you could do all your weekly shopping there. Since it was so close, we could also easily get anything which we had run out of. There was good veg, you could get a decent cut of meat and there were nice speciality items.
But now... well, we went today and just bought ice cream. Once we were home and tried to serve it, it turned out have turned into plasticized freezer bur which you see when Ice Cream gets old (and gone bad). We checked and It had past its best-by date in February... two months ago. Some online resources say that properly stored, this could be fine... probably not a good store policy though.
We threw it out, and we went to the Jug Mart down the street. The equivalent ice cream has an expiration date in 2015. Online resources say that sealed and frozen... like in the store...that a date a year out is normal.
So that means... not only are the greens now wilted... not only is the deli counter to be avoided, but they are literally selling ice cream that is over a year old and expired.
Avoid.
