  • the 2nd time I came in December was worse than the first. I was paying for an upgrade to mardigras suite. The refrigerator was broken upon check in. Later, I found the jacuzzi tub was broken and had black crud floating in it. Blanca in VIP guest serves refused to help me saying "There is no way I can comp you for that room. If you move out of it to a regular room, I can reverse the charge. So, I either pay for a dirty room or move to a lesser quality room for free. I moved. First to a different suite, which also had a bad jacuzzi tub, then to a standard suite. The regular suite was fine - no troubles. But, I still don't know why Blanca and some manager Mr. Williams think I would pay to stay in their dirty room and wait for service guys to stomp in and tell me things can't be fixed until morning. This place used to have the best buffet. GONE. In its place is the little brother's ghost of the best buffet. This place used to treat customers with respect. I shouldn't have to call Mr Williams to tell him about a cruddy tub that doesn't work correctly, and the fat lazy bastard should know better than to tell me I'll have to pay for that room if I am staying in it. Where is an apology and an "I'm sorry sir... we set high standards and clearly we are missing the mark today. I'd like to personally check another suite and have your items moved there once I check it out." Do they not teach people this in hotel executive courses? Is there a market for certification courses in hotel management? It sure appears the Rio staff needs refresher training. Sadly, people will continue to go here because it is cheap and people are looking to save a $. You are the people I am warning... you don't save anything by going to this dump. I'd have tipped any one of the retards $100 to fix my room situation so I didn't have to keep changing rooms. I was on vacation and did not want to waste it on their maintenance personnel, packing and unpacking, etc.
