  • I received Oasis's information from another moving company who canceled on me the day before my move. I called immediately and spoke with Cyril. He was sympathetic and said they could move me the next day with no issues whatsoever. I went from a crying, panicky mess to laughing and feeling much better. Cyril could tell that I was upset and did his best to lighten the mood. I appreciated that. He said that his guys would come to my place between 3:00 and 5:00 the next day. Having another mover booked, I sat down to read reviews on this site and other sites. Nearly all of them were terrible. The Better Business Bureau has 95 complaints recorded against Oasis. I did find some positive reviews, but they all seemed completely staged and fake. I seriously considered calling another moving company that had better reviews, but it was past closing time for all of the other companies I looked up. I spent the next morning feeling nervous, but I was completely ready to go at 3:00. Knowing that there was a two-hour window, I waited until 4:00 to call. Cyril told me that someone should be there shortly. He'd told his guys 4:00. I waited until after 5:00 and called again. Cyril said that he'd check with dispatch, put me on hold, and came back five minutes later saying that someone would be calling me shortly. I hung up and waited for the call. During this, I was texting my boyfriend and freaking out. He kept telling me to give them the benefit of the doubt, but if I hadn't heard anything by 6:00 to cancel so we could rent a truck and move things ourselves. Of course, 6:00 rolled around, and I'd heard nothing. I called (yet again) and spoke with someone I'd not spoken to previously. I explained the situation, told him I wanted to cancel, and he put me on hold. Almost 10 minutes later, Cyril calls me from another number. He explains that there was a mix-up, but that someone will be calling me shortly. He wouldn't listen to me when I said I wanted to cancel. He kept telling me to trust him and that they'd get someone over soon. He rushed me off the phone and hung up. The other person called and told me that his guys were finishing up at another job, had to stop at the store, and then would be over. He offered me a $50 credit for my trouble. I repeatedly told him that I wanted to cancel, but he wouldn't listen either. He assured me that his guy would call me in 10 minutes. I told him that he had 10 minutes. Sure enough, I received a call from Omar who said that he didn't know about any of this until 15 minutes before. He said that he wouldn't be there for close to an hour. I told him to just forget it. He said okay and hung up. I called Cyril back, told him I was done, and said that I didn't even care if I got my deposit back at that point because he had wasted enough of my time. He said that he'd ask them to refund my $50 deposit and that he was sorry that I was so frustrated. He asked how I was going to move my things, and he was less than thrilled when I said I was renting a truck and doing it myself. He told me that I was making a mistake and hung up. I went to U-Haul at 7:15 on a Friday night, rented a truck, called some friends, and moved to my new apartment. I've not received a credit for the deposit, and I think it's going to take quite a bit to see that again. I should've gone with my gut on this. Lesson learned.
