  • Seriously, how could anyone ever hate on this place? Especially if you time it right before or after the massive crowds, Aloha indeed! Bro and I decided to check out the much-heralded food offerings inside the California hotel, and prior to heading over to Main Street Station we accidentally stumbled across the Specialties. Order at the counter, take a number, tiny diner, what is this place??? $6.50 for an Aloha breakfast platter... a generous slice of spam, three slices of sausage, a nice slice of luncheon meat, THREE eggs (!!), a great big bit o' rice (NOTE: this is like Asian/Hawaiian/Filipino/etc. rice, not like pilaf or Spanish or anything) and!!!!!!!!!!!! The ultimate kicker: friggin ginormous piece of Hawaiian toast! SO GOOD! We added a tripe stew for $7 something and it positively reminded my bro and I of a great Filipino dish that our Mom makes super well. It has a tomato-based sauce that no doubt traditional Hawaiian food connoisseurs will surely appreciate. We rounded out our meal with a musubi roll ($1.75) and it far exceeded our expectations in terms of awesomeness. WHO THOUGHT OF THIS SEAWEED WRAPPED GENIUS!!! A magical blend of quality, quantity, location and timing brings LOOOOTS of people to this joint, so either come before or after the lunch rush and you'll be okay. Otherwise don't let the sheer amount of patrons scare you! The hordes are on to something!!!
