| - The first time I was here, I got scallops. They smelled and tasted very strongly of ammonia, which is produced as they rot. Either they didn't taste, smell, examine the scallops for freshness, or they did and sent it out anyway. Not sure which is worse. Ordinarily, I would have given one star and never gone back. In their defense, I was part of a party of 20+ people, which I imagine is pretty hard to deal with in a small-ish restaurant.
However!
They have one of the most vegetarian-friendly menus in the Madison area. We gave them another try on a vegetarian night. We found the vegetarian options to be plentiful, well-seasoned, well-flavored. Dude knows how to cook!
Prices and service, are good. Ambiance is fantastic.
Bring your veggie friends there, especially when you're wanting something a little different from the token black bean burger every other menu has got.
Maybe the scallops were a rare accident, but the memory of the smell is powerful and I don't think I can eat seafood there again.
