  • Purchased a CPO 2008 Honda S2000 on 1/31, finally had it shipped on 2/16 and got it delivered to the Bay Area on 2/21. Took forever for my salesperson, Malachi Smith, to process the paperwork. Before I paid, he was constantly communicating with me by phone and email. Right after I paid, it took forever for him to get back to my emails and I could never reach him by phone. Had to email his supervisor to get him to reply to a few of my emails. I asked for a quick list of the post-payment process but that request was ignored. So we ended up conducting the whole post-payment process piece-meal. I had to always push the process forward which was a pain and delayed the pick-up significantly. Promises of paperwork being shipped out weren't kept, I had to call back to get them shipped out. I don't like being a pest but had no choice when dealing with Malachi. When I received the car, the CEL was on and the car did not come with the manual and only had one set of keys. Under the CPO program they are supposed to include all manuals, documentation and two sets of keys with remote entry and one valet key. I asked Malachi about the CEL, he assured me that I could take it to any local dealership and it should be fixed, covered by the warranty. That isn't the case since the local dealership I took it to wanted $145 for the diagnostic. For a car that supposedly went through the Honda 150 point certification process, how on earth does it arrive with the CEL on? I checked the mileage on the car and it matched the shipping documents so no, the trucking company did not take the car on a joy ride. I don't know if this reflects negatively on the dealership or on Honda's certification program. According to CarFax, the car had been involved in an accident. I asked Malachi for details of the accident, he replied stating that it was a minor fender bender at a Stop sign. Sounds okay, until I got the car and saw that the trunk lid had been replaced. Whoever did the work didn't do a good job, the trunk doesn't fit flush with the body. Every time I close the trunk, it scrapes a bit. Malachi promised to follow-up with the extra keys and documentation after I brought the issue up. I'm sure they were wishing I didn't check the CPO details since they didn't offer up this information up front. Haven't heard from him since that exchange. Will update once I get this CEL and the spare keys, documentation and possibly the trunk sorted out.
