| - T & T (Warden location) is a beautiful grocery store, but so much more. A true SUPER market, with everything that you could need to survive. Honestly, if I was looking for shelter from the Apocalypse, I would run straight there.
We would have to eat the fresh, live, swimming fish first, because there are several tanks of live fish. I am just delving into the world of cooking whole fish, but every fish that I have bought at T & T has been great. When I was a T & T noob (it took a few visits for me to get around the language barriers and learn how things work), I quickly learned not to panic; not to just grab some fresh fish from an ice try, and run with it to the check-out. Rather, just take it to the fish counter, where they will weigh it. They will also clean it and filet it however you wish. If you aren't sure, just lurk on the sidelines and watch other people buying fish. Most T&T employees are OK with some English, and after your first noobie attempt, the experience becomes fun.
As other yelpers have detailed, T & T offers probably the most comprehensive selection of Asian ingredients available. I have been able to buy such obscure things as a divided hot-pot suitable for induction cooking, katsu sauce, black sesame paste, szechuan peppercorn, fresh water chestnut, and a choice of over a dozen hot pot spice mixes. You can't get these at your usual No Frills.
Aside from the excellence of its Asian food selection, T & T has several reasons to make it a stop on your grocery run. If you check their flyer online, you will see that some of their specials are awesome! Basic groceries and products feature at spectacular sale prices, and if you like seafood, then just go on their website and check out their promotions. The best promotions are usually offered Thursdays - Sundays.
Not to be missed is their Cosmetics counter, and the specials that they offer on some Asian cosmetics, which can be really expensive if you try to order them on line. There are excellent, responsibly researched products for both men and women. Dr. Wu, Naruko, and For Beloved One are three great product lines. They also have some amusing Animal-design facial sheet masks from Korea, in case you want to put on a mask that is both a disguise (otter, tiger, panda, dragon) and a skincare product. Oh, and you can also buy some really cool kitchen accessories too!
T & T is great, although the Warden location parking can get hectic. My advice: get there at 8:00 a.m. It is one of the few grocery stores that opens so early.
