Yeah, don't come here. I live up the street so I've brought shoes here twice. You know how normal places give you a pick-up date, and you come on that date to pick up? Yeah, that's not how Mr. Soles sees it. That date is just an arbitrary number and you generally have to come back at least once, if not twice or more, to finally get your shoes.
It's not like they have rock-bottom prices. It's not like they give you an amazing quality job. The last time I went there, they gave me back my boots covered in sawdust from their counter -- didn't even bother giving them a cursory brush after I gave them $40 worth of business. Why? Probably because I sat there for 10 minutes while he actually did the job (and chatted with some guy).
It is not acceptable for a service to give you an estimate and not live up to it. It is not your responsibility as a customer to, to quote another review, "give them a gentle hint." Jesus.
If you have cheap shoes, go to Shoe Therapy (on Bay) and have some matter-of-fact service for a downtown price from a nice elderly couple.
If you have expensive shoes or shoes you really like, go to Nick's Shoe Repair (near Dupont Station) for some real and even nicer pros.
