  • The food here is good, but the policies implemented by the owner/manager/whoever make a visit to Basil less than desirable. For a place with this price point, they should really try to make the customer's experience easy and enjoyable, not annoying and frustrating from the moment you try and get a table. For lunch, they claim to not take reservations but when I arrived at the hostess stand, I was asked if I had a reservation for my party of 8. Because you can't have a reservation (even if you call ahead days in advance), the wait time can get very long, especially at lunch time. They also won't seat you unless your whole party is present. That policy makes some sense, but I've been to places where only 50% of the party needs to be present to be seated (to accommodate for the friend who is always late). The policy that made us the most upset was recently put into place. For parties for 8 or more, checks can't be split. This makes no sense. I came with a group of coworkers for lunch and since a corporate card isn't easy to acquire, we spent about half of our lunch hour downloading and setting up venmo acocunts. If you plan on coming here with friends, make sure you all have venmo, the party is all present at the host stand, and come at an offbeat time. The wait time during lunch can be outrageous. If you can't meet the criteria above, there are tons of other great restaurants within walking distance.
