A native of western PA, I came back to celebrate my Mother's 76th birthday with her and told her to choose a restaurant she would not driver herself to. She picked Meat and Potatoes and I have heard of it so I was pleased to give it a try. Today, I live in the Phoenix area where a food revival has been occurring for the last decade. This prohibition themed area is comfortable and bright. The mixologists at the bar have an array of magic at their fingertips. We asked for a specialty martini for Mom that was tasty and not too strong. He whipped up a raspberry citrusy take on the cosmopolitan for her that was bright and sweet and pink and delicious. I opted for my classic Belvedere martini with bleu cheese stuffed olives. Mom chose the duck breast and I had the lamb neck cassoulet. Both were extraordinary and huge! Luckily we chose not to have an appetizer so we filled ourselves and sipped a delish pinot noir from our friendly server Adam. The atmosphere is light with 1970s pop music playing of Elton John, Billy Joel and James Taylor and diners were businessmen, families with kids, theater goers and young people. I recommend this meaty, comfortable take on amazing food without any reservations.
