The Las Vegas Convention Center is much larger and probably the choice for the popular conventions. Having said that, the Sands Expo, which was the Vegas Convention Center at one time, is a great place to hold a convention. It is located in between the Venetian and Palazzo and right on the strip. There are multiple floors for smaller class/meetings/exhibits as well. The process for checking in is good, although you must walk through the entire convention towards the back. But they are well organized and clean. Plenty of restrooms and large hallways make it easy to navigate around. Even though it is small compare to other convention centers, it is still quite large and can accommodate many exhibits. If you don't want convention food, and who does, then just head down the hallway to many of the restaurants in the casino instead. If I come back to Vegas for another convention, I hope the venue is here instead of the bigger Las Vegas Convention Center.
