  • Stayed in "upgraded" designer suite. Pretty on the outside only. Issues: TV remote, refridge, and A/C all did not work correctly. Trash from previous guests left under bed, as well as ripped & blood-stained sheets. Then we stepped on BROKEN SHARDS OF GLASS on the bathroom floor. Yes, glass. All of these issues were rectified by staff, and we were comped one night. The final "oops:" Coming back to our room after a nice breakfast in Siegal's, our bathroom, specifically, toilet and surrounding floor was covered in water! Seems the TOILET from the suite upstairs OVERFLOWED and it all came leaking through the light fixture in our ceiling. We were offered another room, exactly like the first one, and that room's A/C was blowing HOT AIR. We were comped the previous night and we promptly checked out. Done. Never. Ever. Again. Thank you to the Downtown Grand for their commitment to cleanliness and value for the money! Yes, that's where we ended up, a happy ending :) El Cortez earns the two stars for their staff only. Very nice people. But they just couldn't make this right.
