  • Like most of the other joints around town, the Mini Mart is well stocked, has a great wine selection, and lots and lots of beers. Also like most of the other joints throughout Lakewood, there's very little parking, and the potential for someone backing out to miss you is definitely possible through the delicate ballet of "No, You Go. Okay, I'll Go, No, I'll Go." Should open on Broadway, soon. In all seriousness, of the beer and wine joints in Lakewood, the Mini Mart gets high marks for it's cleanliness. There's rarely a dusty bottle to be found, and if there is, it's something that's dusty for show, like something I'd buy to stick in my cellar and add to the dust there, too. My other favorite part is that there's not a whole ton of duders and hipsters at the Mart. There's lots of people who go there for their macrobrews, which leaves a good selection of microbrews for me and all the gang. Still though, I don't think I get the freshest stuff from the Mini Mart, since they don't turn it over as quickly (as near as I can tell. I've compared bottles of things before, and it's consistently older than Giant Eagle, Simone's and Heinen's. Possibly luck, as my study is far from scientific, and I get too drunk by the end to really come to a good scientific solution except beer=drunk Peter S.) Enjoy the Mini Mart. Use the Mini Mart. Love the Mini Mart. (If you don't want to drive to Simone's.)
